Qualifications
Ability to work independently, set and adhere to strict publishing deadlines, and maintain positive responsiveness to constructive feedback.
Excellent research, writing, proofreading, and production background (podcasting preferred but not required).
Proficiency in basic audio editing & production (Adobe Audition or ProTools preferred; Audacity or other opensource experience permissible).
Enthusiasm for learning and working with a small, close-knit, and at times - highly collaborative team.
Ability to source public domain & FOIA criminal case information, audio, archival information, and video utilizing a combination of state & federal public data request standards.
Strong ability to research, review, and source raw court testimony, public domain audio, and criminal case details – with an eye for identifying critical details, need-to-know plot points, and portions of criminal cases that elicit an emotionally engaging response from the audience.
Hyper attention to detail.
An extensive understanding of appropriate literary sourcing practices, plagiarism, and copyright infringement.
Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skills.
jOB DUTIES
Writer/Producers sources and develop unique episode case pitches using the Reach Freaks, LLC proprietary formula of crimes involving missing & murdered people not widely covered by other podcasts and/or digital media.
Complete all research, writing, and basic primary source audio compilation (including original writing and selection of legally sourced primary source audio clips that do not invade any third-party, copy, or other licensing rights) of 45-60 minute (estimated) true-crime podcast episodes for the Invisible Choir™ true crime podcast within 14 calendar days of written approval.
Submission of full-length sample narrative and primary source audio in .MP3 format (combined for estimating episode duration, and primary-source audio only uncompressed .WAV track for final audio engineering).
Accurate timestamping notation sources for all primary source audio included in the final script.
Contractor agrees to submit Script and episode Show-Notes using the Client’s proprietary standard template format.
Ability to schedule, conduct, and record guided interviews with individuals possessing knowledge or insight relevant to approved episode topic.
Factcheck and appropriately source all information presented and included in submitted written scripts, show notes, and episode summary materials.
Document and contextualize all information sources for episode show-notes and script factchecking process.
Participate in weekly team conference calls – where the Writer/Producer will give succinct updates regarding pitch and case writing & production progress with the Reach Freaks, LLC team.
SALARY
Writer/Producers are paid a starting rate of $1,200.00 per full-length episode script, upon completion. Higher rate is commensurate with experience.
